writer by night (and weekend). He has been involved in local ministry for a
little over seven years and has written articles for both Relevant Magazine
and The Christian Standard. |

Pastor Richard "Rip" Jenkins, Senior Pastoral Staff - Spiritual Formation Pastor Rip and his wife Kathy come from the Kansas City area and have served in several churches over the last 25 years. Pastor Rip has a Bachelor’s degree from Avila College and a Master of Divinity from St. Paul School of Theology, Kansas City. Pastor Rip is a warm, engaging leader who assists individuals and groups in spiritual formation and healthy progress in their lives. He directs our “Celebrate Recovery” ministry and is highly engaged with our missions outreach. Pastor Rip came to Poplar Creek when the church merged with Celebration Community Church in 2004. He and Kathy have been married 26 years and have one daughter who is a student at Hope College, in Holland, Michigan. |

Ian is our crazy youth guy who has a great heart for teens of our community. He leads our Matchbox ministries including various teen events as well as a weekly student-led worship gathering at our Sunday 11:00 CreekSide worship time. Ian is the oldest of seven children from the Detroit area and is a 2006 graduate of Judson College in Elgin. Ian spent an internship in India last summer and also has a burden for mission work |

Mandi, her husband Mike and their three children are residents of Bartlett and are also part of Poplar Creek Church. Mandi proposed the concept of a preschool in 2004, launched the opening of the school that fall and is leading the school in its third successful year. She took over duties as Children's Ministry director in the fall of 2007 and has an exceptional passion and vision for the kids. For more information on Mandi, see the Preschool Site. Pastor Darrel and Karen have served in ministry for over 50 years and have been involved with Poplar Creek Church since 1992. Now retired, Pastor Darrel and Karen devote a lot of time to TCM ministries (a seminary in Austria) as well as civic engagement and a variety of ongoing church responsibilities. |

Tonya serves as our office manager and is the primary contact for accounting, scheduling and the Interface. Tonya calls North Carolina home but has learned to 'appeciate' our region and lives in Bartlett. Tonya is a retired Chief Petty Officer following 22 years of naval service and is trying to run a tight ship in the office, getting the most out of our eclectic band of characters. |

Cyndi serves as our first contact when you call the church. As our only full time clerical support, she directs inquiries, handles requests and tries to keep track of where the Pastors are if they are needed. Cyndi also leads our Solo ladies ministry for singles and women who attend church without their spouses. |

Mary is part time in the evening. She handles many administrative tasks but is in the office to help Monday – Thursday evenings. Mary is a resident of Streamwood and goes by the nickname “Mary Purples” because she wears purple every day. |
